Abstract

Intracellular phenomena – e.g. calcium waves, protein interactions, etc – play key roles in modulating brain activity through their interactions with electro-chemical signaling between neurons. Quantitative models used as tools for pre- and post-dictive studies of neural functioning have incorporated these phenomenon using the mathematical formalism of reaction-diffusion kinetics.
